SERVO est un groupe de musique rouennais composé de Arthur PIERRE et Louis HEBERT. Le duo s’est spécialisé dans un post-punk dansant alternant entre des contemplations instrumentales évasives et embrumées et une violence implacable où tous les instruments explosent en même temps, le tout couvert d’un chant contrasté entre monotonie et puissance hallucinée.

Après avoir été repéré, à la suite d’une série de concerts anglais « émeutiers et assourdissants » par le prestigieux label londonien Fuzz Club Records ; SERVO sort un deuxième album sur ce même label en 2020. Un album qui a pour nom ‘Alien’, qualificatif qui correspond bien au groupe puisque comme le souligne Gonzaï « il est unique sur le paysage francophone ». Quelque part entre le goth incantatoire, le krautrock des plus mécaniques et la superposition de couches de fuzz en masse qui apporte un côté noisy et psyché : SERVO est assez atypique.

En 2024, SERVO sort son troisième album, Monsters, avec des productions et des rythmiques plus musclées et une dimension mystique poussée à l’extrême. Leur objectif : mettre la musique au service du live. Produire un spectacle puissant et immersif dans lequel le spectateur se retrouve à la fois intrigué, captivé, hypnotisé et finalement privé d’échappatoire. L'accent est mis sur la puissance et la brutalité de chaque morceau. Une fois la tempête passée vient le temps de faire place aux détails, inventer une complexité qui doit être aussi prévisible qu'inattendue pour l'auditeur.

French band deals in the kind of dark, post-punk noise-rock that storms with ease between gloomy, hypnotic moments and bouts of powerful, motorik noise. SERVO’s sound finds an unstable home between heavy, droning psych-rock and gothic post- punk; forlorn, jangling guitars and deep, austere vocals breaking down into piercing blasts of feedback and distortion.

After a couple of typically riotous and deafening shows in London, at underground haunts like The Shacklewell Arms and The Windmill, the band caught the attention of Fuzz Club Records that released their second album ‘Alien’ in 2020. Comprised of Arthur Pierre and Louis Hebert, SERVO have spent the last few years bringing their intense live show – an assault of trance-inducing noise and blinding flashes of light – to growing audiences around mainland Europe and the UK. The new album ‘Monsters’ came out in early 2024, and the objective is still the same : the music is to serve the live. The show has to be powerful and immersive. Each track is blessed by brutality and heavyness. The place left after the storm can be filled with details and complexity, as predictable than unexpected. The audience is captured, hypnotized and no one can escape.
